Fuckparade2006 - Dr. Motte - EnergyCast #7

Since founding the Loveparade Dr. Motte symbolized the biggest techno parade like no other due to various reasons including his famous speeches he held at the beginning of every closing party on Loveparade eve.

This year was the first time we weren't allowed to hear him talk cause after all he wasn't satisfied with the way Loveparade is walking into the future and so he left the organization.

For those who missed his legendary speech at the Loveparade this year, will get the chance to listen to our podcast of Dr Motte speaking at the Fuckparde here (link), starting with the words: “It would be wrong to believe that we are part of an apathetic generation…”.

The speech is held in German - some good chance to learn German and hear Dr. Mottes voice...

Street Football Worldcup 2006 - Berlin - ENergyCast #6

Every four years - during the official fifa worldcup - there is an event dealing with the billions of street football players around the globe. The 2nd edition will be in Africa and the 1st one - naturally - is taking place right here in Berlin.

They have built some stadium - the streetfootballworld - at Mariannenplatz in the Berlin district of Kreuzberg and all the teams from around the globe (besides of the two who didn’t get their visas sadly enough) are competing to become street football world champion.

Every game is commented live by two moderators coming from the countries of the two teams on the field. You don't understand a single word if you don't happen to be from Afghanistan or Argentine (the commentors in our recording) but it's big fun to listen to the guys!

Make shure to use your headphones cause this is another recording we did with binaural microphonoes which give you the surround sound feeling.

Wochenmarkt am Maybachufer - ENergyCast #5

Today i made a trip to the Ankerklause over at Kreuzberg's Maybachufer back here in Berlin to drink some nice Cafe au Lait when suddenly i had the idea of doing some audio recording of the noises which emerge the market around the corner.

Several times a week a market for food and clothing takes place at Kreuzberg's Maybachufer close to the Ankerklause and Hardwax record store. Mostly turkish merchants selling mostly vegetables, bread, fish and some very exotic food. A meeting place for the people living in and around Kreuzberg.

It's little more than 20 minutes and you should use your headphones while listening cause i naturally used the in-ear microphones which results in some kind of surround sound recording. You can exactly hear from which direction the sound emerged.

Another use of this recording could be to use it as some background noise which you could use while making a phone call with your parents who sent you to Berlin for your german language studies and you instead decided to go to Ibiza!

Worldcup2006 - ENergyCast #4

Went to check out the people partying at the “Fan Meile” on the “Strasse des 17. Juni” back here in Berlin for the match between Costa Rica and Germany which Germany won by 4 goals to 2.
What i encountered was the real worldcup spirit. People from all over the world watched the game together on the big screens and had a great afternoon.

For the enhanced podcast which comes with the pictures i took follow this link

Sonambiente2006 - ENergyCast #3

In our last Sonambiente-podcast you could check out some recording we did at Kurfuerstendamm. Today it's about time to present an "intermedia installation" called "Die Gruene Hoelle" (the green hell) by multimedia artist Bernhard Gal. He deals with the worldcup - starting today - in a sound artist's way. Enjoy the video over here!

Sonambiente2006 - ENergyCast #2

sonambiente berlin 2006 is summer in berlin set to music for the eyes and ears. Installations, objects, performances, happenings visual art, sound art, video, new media, radio art, film: from June 1st to July 16th, for the second time since 1996, over 40 internationally known artists and some 20 up-and-coming art school talents make the metropolis reverberate with sound.

At five central venues and many other exciting locales, sonambiente berlin 2006 generates an extensive network of events throughout the centre of Berlin.

Though we are more interested in this outstanding and one of it's kind event (than the worldcup) we did some serious preparation and brainstorming on the several possible ways to do some good coverage. One "weapon of choice" is our podcast aka ENergyCast which you can check out by following this link

ENergyCast = Monolake @ Bulbs

energycastwell, well, well - finally - after thinking it over for some time we decided on setting up a podcast!

last saturday - the 17th we went to check out monolake at tesla for his bulbs performance. the 45 minutes show will remain in my memory as a memorable night where robert henke extended the borders of sound.

the sound experience took place in a surrounding created by multimedia group artificiel from montreal/canada. 36 light bulbs hanging from the roof. attached were microphones. by regulating the voltage running through the bulbs they produced sound.

monolake - by means of a midi controller and his ibook kind of played the bulbs mixed with ambient sounds. one hell of an experince which reminded me of the early tangerine dream or composer karlheinz stockhausen's early sound experiment...

hopefully this experience will be relased to a wider audience as all of it was recorded by his crew as well as photograhed and filmed - so chances are good... please don't send us any messages regarding our recording as we will never share this one - all was made for the purpose of our little podcast project!!!

anyway - if you like to tune in - check out our little over 10 minutes podcast of this memorable experience! and... don't forget to use your headphones though we recorded in surround sound!
